160 New Jobs in Clonakilty Technology Park

The American communication company, Premier Conferencing, will invest between £1.5m to £2m into their new branch, opening in January or February 2002, in the Clonakilty Technology Park.

Premier Conferencing, which is a world leader in providing conference calling facilities via telephone and internet links, will start recruiting around 30 people but it’s expected that by the end of the year there will be 70 employees, and 160 by 2005. They'll be looking for personnel with information technology or language skills.

Contrary to most technology companies that suffered giant losses over the past year, Premier Conferencing has been growing steadily over the past twelve months. The company has been operating for 17 years and currently employs around 800 people world-wide.

The company has chosen the Clonakilty Technology Park because of its high standard and Clonakilty’s labour pool. After having sought advise from a recruiting and consultancy firm Clonakilty came up as having good technology and multi-lingual skills.

The Technology park will soon have a fibre-optic cable and business can begin.

Premiere Conferencing is the second IDA supported company to establish a facility at the park. In July 1999, RAND Worldwide, a Canadian company, established a software centre for the development and customisation of software for the European market.

The marketing Director of the West Cork and Business and Technology Park, Mr John Connolly said at the announcement that there would be further job announcements in the New Year.
