Portuguese multinational Mota-Engil set to create 60 jobs in Galway

The multinational construction and infrastructure management group is expanding its Irish-based operations via two subsidiary companies; water and waste solutions provider Glan Agua and civil engineering business MEIC.
Both will now be based at larger premises in Loughrea.
“With the opening of new offices and the goal of creating 60 new jobs in Ireland in the coming years, Mota-Engil is reaffirming its commitment to this market and our intent to continue to invest in this country in order to be a leader in the technical areas in which we operate.
"We are also committed to developing career opportunities and training for young local engineers to expand our activity not only in Ireland but also in the UK,” said group chief executive Goncalo Moura Martins.
The group operates in 22 countries on three continents and owns nearly 300 companies, employing 29,000 people worldwide.
Its Irish subsidiaries were founded in 2007 and 2008.
The expansion is backed by the IDA and the agency’s chief Martin Shanahan yesterday said the project adds a new client business to the IDA’s growing engineering base in Ireland and delivers “a quality investment for east Galway which is a key regional location for IDA, creating an extra 60 high value jobs.”
Minister of State Seán Canney said the move shows that firms can locate in regions, “once the necessary infrastructure and skilled workforce is available”.
