IN WEXFORD in 1916, the Volunteers had seven branches with 325 members, poorly armed with 95 rifles, 47 shotguns, 34 revolvers, bayonets and ammunition.

Despite their lack of arms, the Rising in Enniscorthy was among one of the more remarkable episodes of the week.
