British house prices rise the most in eight months

UK house prices rose the most in eight months in December, and an improving economy and labour market will support further gains in the coming months, Nationwide Building Society said.

The average price of a UK home rose 0.8% to £196,999 (€180,000) from November, the most since April, the lender said in a statement yesterday.

The annual rate of growth accelerated to 4.5% in December from 3.7% the previous month.
