Discount retailers to create 120 jobs

More than 120 jobs are to be created in three locations across the country following announcements by two discount retailers.

No frills fashion outlet TK Maxx yesterday opened its new store in Dublin’s Dundrum Town Centre with the creation of 75 new jobs, while Dealz unveiled its new shop in Dundalk, Co Louth.

In addition to the 28 jobs created by the launch of its 4,400 sq ft Dundalk store, the cut-price retailer will tomorrow add its 33rd retail outlet on Cork’s Merchant’s Quay with the creation of a further 22 roles.

Award-winning actress and author Amy Huberman was on hand to add a little style to the opening of the TK Maxx store in Dundrum, along with five-year-old Jacob Keenan — a representative of TK Maxx’s official charity partner, Enable Ireland.

Commenting on the opening, store manager Donna Dignam said: “We are very excited to be opening the new store and bringing shoppers at Dundrum Town Centre big savings on their favourite brands

“The TK Maxx concept is simple. TK Maxx buyers shop the world all year round working direct with designers and negotiating great deals to bring customers famous brands at a fraction of the normal retail price.”

Meanwhile, Dealz regional manager, Leonard Brassel welcomed the opening of its two new stores and flagged the company’s intention to continue the expansion of its portfolio of shops across the country.
