Heating contractor tops tax defaulter list
Mr Murphy with an address at Blackstone Bridge, Killeens, was caught for under-declaration of income tax and Vat through an audit by the Revenue Commissioners.
He was one of 100 defaulters for the three-month period who paid a total of €13,768,450.08 in taxes, interest and penalties.
The next biggest fine of €762,125.48 was imposed on Mulleady Civil Engineering Ltd with an address at Main St, Drumlish, Co Longford.
An accountant and taxation service provider, Dankwa Yaw, with an address at Business Park, Donore Road, Drogheda, paid a total €38,359.30.
Liam Holland, a nursing home proprietor from Grangecon, Coolanananvalley, Carrigrohane, Co Cork, paid a total amount of €550,000 for the under-declaration of tax.
The Bantry Inn, Main St, Bantry, Co Cork, paid 63,556 for under-declaration of Vat and PAYE/PRSI.
Most of the defaulters operate in the services sector and deal in cash payments, including Carol Byrne from Coolnamaine, Oylegate, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, who describes herself as a clairvoyant was fined a total of €163,063 for the under-declaration of Vat and income tax.
John Caraher, a medical doctor, with an address at Swan Park, Monaghan, paid a total of €136,008 on the back of underdeclaration of income tax and capital gains tax.
Abubakr Am Rayis, who is a medical consultant with an address at 123 Clonminch Wood, Tullamore, Co Offaly, received a total fine of €387,339 for the underdeclaration of income tax.
Michael Reidy, a stone crusher from Kilcoran, Cahir, Co Tipperary, paid 122,348.19 for the under-declaration of Vat.
