Hotels ‘struggling to fill vacancies’

Hotels and guesthouses are struggling to find trained workers to fill entry level positions within their businesses the Irish Hotels Federation’s Annual Conference in Trim heard.

A survey conducted by the federation this month show three out of every four hotels and guesthouses can’t find the workers they required, compared to 64% last year.

President of the federation Michael Vaughan said there was a need to introduce an apprenticeship system to plug the holes in the labour market.
