Pubs Chawke up €2m profits

One of the country’s best-known publicans, Charlie Chawke, said yesterday that Leinster’s winning run in the Heineken Cup last year helped his pub group achieve pre-tax profits of over €2m in 2012.

Mr Chawke confirmed that his 10 pubs recorded a combined turnover of over €20m last year, adding that Leinster’s Heineken Cup run “was great for business”.

Mr Chawke was commenting on accounts filed by three of his companies, with two showing a rise in accumulated profits and one showing a decrease.
