Austerity will not get us out of mess we’re in

Impacts of austerity, aka squeezing us “till the pips squeak”, are not just about economics and growth.

The Government is trying every trick in the book to recover from the rejection of Croke Park II, threatening to introduce ad-hoc across the board pay cuts.

It has now roped in the LRC to do its bidding in a bid to reach some sort of compromise with the unions and still make the €300m savings in public sector pay and perks from this year’s budget.
