World markets opened the week lower.

Falling metal prices saw mining stocks move lower.

Poor Chinese growth figures, was another reason for the fall.

Shares in Dublin were no exception closing down 20.25 points to finish on 3,859.57,

In the financial sector, bank stocks had mixed fortunes.

Bank of Ireland was flat on 16.4c. AIB slipped a further 0.3c to finish on 6.7c, while Permanent TSB Group added 0.1c to close at 3.6c. Insurer FBD Holdings was also flat on 12.50.

The construction sector mirrored the index with all finishing lower. CRH shipped 26.5c to €16.07, Grafton Group gave up 3.8c to €4.95 while Kingspan was 8c lower on €9.50.
