Midleton’s master distiller steps down after 47 years

After 47 years working as a distiller, Barry Crockett, master distiller at the Midleton Distillery, will retire in March.

Mr Crockett was born in a distiller’s cottage that sits on the grounds of the Old Midleton Distillery, and is the son of the former master distiller Max Crockett.

He followed in his father’s footsteps, succeeding him as master distiller in 1981 after a 10-year apprenticeship. He served as master distiller for 31 years. Barry said that it had been an honour to oversee the changes at the distillery.
