‘Develop next generation of innovators’

Cork City Hall was converted into a technology nirvana yesterday as leaders from life sciences, technology education and investment took to the stage to plan for Ireland digital future.

‘Develop next generation of innovators’

One of the key message that emerged from the Global Technology Leaders summit was the importance of developing the next generation of innovators that will lay the foundations for a bold new world of programming kids and programmable medicine.

The future of medicine, according Professor Martina Newell-McGlouglin, is in medicine that has been tailored to each individual patient. She said that the days of the big blockbuster drugs that Ireland has been relying on producing are over. She said the future will see smaller start-up biotech firms bringing drugs to market in partnership with the likes of Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline.
