The Iseq Index was marginally behind on a relatively quiet day as the US market remained closed to celebrate both Martin Luther King Day and President Obama’s inauguration.

The Irish Exchange closed down just 2 points to 3,477.72.

In the financial sector, all three listed banks finished in positive territory. Bank of Ireland advanced 0.1c to 14.1c, AIB rose by 0.7c to 8.8c, with Permanent TSB gaining 0.5c to 4.6c. Insurer FBD Holdings firmed 4.5c to €10.75.
