The average Irish saver is accumulating €3,303 a year, up 10% on what they were saving last year, according to the ESB consumer savings sentiment research.

The research found that the vast majority of Irish people are saving their money, with 78% of respondents saying that they are saving whenever possible. However, most do not have a dedicated savings plan.

The figures show there has been a 6% decline in the number of savers since it peaked at 84% in July, but that the average amount of money being saved continues to increase.
