Worldwide markets advance

All major markets advanced on encouraging macroeconomic news from Germany and China. The Iseq index rose 11.73 points to 3,263.75.

Worldwide markets advance

The financials were in line with the index in general. Bank of Ireland added 0.1c to 9.8c, AIB followed suit, tacking on 0.1c to 5.2c, while Permanent TSB Group was flat at 2.2c. Irish insurer FBD Holdings was 15c ahead, closing at €10.10.

Construction stocks were mixed, with CRH gaining 5c to €13.99. Kingspan remained flat at €7.95, while Grafton Group fell 3c to €3.75.

In other news, Independent News & Media continued its volatile trend, adding 7%, or 0.3c, to finish at 4.8c. Clonmel drinks manufacturer C&C Group added 4.5c to €4.09.
