US presidential election nerves and investor scepticism about the structural reforms in Greece pushed stockmarkets across the eurozone lower yesterday.

However, the Iseq bucked this trend on 3,353.76 up 40.72 points on the day.

A mixed day for the Irish banks, with AIB adding 0.2c to close at 5.2c while Bank of Ireland lost 0.2c to close on 9.7c. Permanent TSB Group was flat, resting at 2.4c.

It was a good day for insurer FBD Holdings adding 21.5c or 2.25% to close on €9.58.

In the construction sector CRH’s momentum continued, adding a further 10c to finish on €15.

The other two major players in the sector lost some value with Kingspan closing at €8.08, down 6.6c, and Grafton Group falling 6.9c to close the day on €3.38.
