Markets gain after US GDP figures

Markets across Europe finished the week slightly ahead in a poor week on the good news coming from the US that its GDP is up an unexpected 2% in Q3.

The ISEQ added a 1.89 points to close at 3,241.84 on a very quiet day on in Dublin.

Financial stocks were static, with AIB and Permanent TSB Group unchanged at 5.6c and 2.4c. Bank of Ireland was the only mover, losing 0.1c to close at 9.4c. Insurer FBD Holdings came back after yesterday’s slight loss to close up 6c at €9.63.

In construction, CRH gained a cent to close at €13.83. Kingspan was down 2.2c to €8.09, while Grafton Group was unchanged on €3.35.

Elsewhere, Kerry Group shares rose 9c to close on €40.69 ahead of its third quarter results, which are out on Wednesday, when Goodbody anticipates like-for-like growth of 2.7%.
