The Iseq index fell sharply on Monday to close down 70.20 points at 3,162.44, in line with European and world markets.

The Netherlands was drawn into the crisis when the government failed to agree on budget cuts and resigned, making elections unavoidable and casting doubt on its support for future eurozone measures.

In the financial sector, Bank of Ireland slipped 0.3c to 11c. AIB added 0.1c to 7.2c. IL&P dropped 0.3c to 2.7c, while insurance group FBD Holdings fell 0.1c to €9.00.

In construction, CRH fell 49c to €14.66. Grafton was 5.5c worse at €3.204, while Kingspan fell 0.4c to €7.646. Paddy Power was down 54c at €48.48, Ryanair dipped 14.1c to €4.199, while Kerry Group lost 44.5c to €33.78.
