Market slips amid global concerns

The Iseq index fell slightly yesterday to close down 4.13 points at 3,176.09.

Renewed concerns about the global economy contributed to weakness in the markets, with sentiment in financial markets particularly fragile as Spanish government bond yield rose above 6% and the cost of insuring its debt hit a record high.

In the US, retail sales rose more than expected in March, suggesting that economic growth in the first quarter did not slow as much as many had feared.
