Lingerie retailer Ann Summers last year felt the chill winds of the economic recession as its main Irish unit went into the red.

Accounts filed by Ann Summers Ireland (Retail) Ltd show the firm recorded a pre-tax loss of €80,025 last year. This followed the company recording a pre-tax profit €748,447 in fiscal 2010.

The company going into the red last year results from a negative swing of €828,472 in its profit and loss account. Figures for the 12 months to the end of Jun 25 last year show revenues dipped by 9%, from €3.3m to €3m.
