The ISEQ index gained 11.77 points to 3118.62 as reports suggested that agreement has been reached by Greek politicians over an austerity deal.

Elsewhere, ECB president Mario Draghi announced that the ECB headline lending rate would remain at 1% and that collateral rules liquidity events would be eased.

Among the financials, AIB performed strongest, adding 1.8c or 15% to close at 11.9c. Bank of Ireland finished 0.69% higher at 14.5c. Irish Life and Permanent shed 0.1c to 5.3c while FBD Holdings lost 10c to finish the day at 7.40.
