Market gains but investors worried

THE ISEQ index began the week with a gain of 5.28 points to 2,731.68, as bargain hunters were to the fore.

Trading remained subdued as investors remain concerned over the global economy and the eurozone debt crisis.

In the financial sector, Bank of Ireland dropped 0.3c to 7.5c. AIB advanced 0.5c to 7.1c. Irish Life & Permanent remained at 2.2c, while insurance group FBD Holdings jumped 40c to €6.75.

In the construction sector, CRH strengthened 41c to €13.76. Grafton Group was flat at €2.31, while Kingspan dipped 5c to €6.10.

In other news, Smurfit Kappa was 15c stronger at €4.70. Shares in Kerry Group declined 60.5c to €27.64. Glanbia added 1c to €4.51, while Donegal Creameries was unchanged at €3.30.
