Market recovers some ground

THE ISEQ index recovered some of Monday’s losses yesterday, gaining 35.64 points to 2,417.70.

The Greek prime minister is expected to hold a conference call today with the French president and German chancellor to discuss the rising fears of the insolvency of Greece and even its possible exit from the eurozone.

In the financial sector, Bank of Ireland gained 0.3c to 7.6c, while AIB was unchanged at 3.8c. Irish Life & Permanent was also flat at 2.5c with insurance group FBD dropping 5c to €6.35.

In construction, CRH advanced 9c to €10.59.&Meanwhile, Kingspan closed 14.9c higher at €6.14 with Graftonremaining at €2.75.

Elsewhere, Kerry Group fell 0.5c to €25.40 as it announced it is to acquire sweet ingredients company SuCrest which it is hoped will increase its presence in the European sweet ingredients market.
