THE ISEQ index clawed back some of its recent losses in line with other European bourses yesterday.

Germany’s constitutional court rejected lawsuits aimed at blocking Berlin’s participation in bailout packages for Greece and other eurozone countries, including Ireland. It emerged the US Congress may be about to propose $300bn in tax cuts as part of its initiative to create jobs. The Irish exchange gained 71.49 points to 2,519.42.

In the financial sector, Bank of Ireland was marginally higher by 0.3c to 8.03c while AIB dipped 0.1c to 4.4c. Irish Life & Permanent gained 0.5c to 3c and insurance group FBD Holdings jumped 19.4c to €6.65.
