AGRI-BUSINESS leaders Dan Browne of Dawn Meats and John Moloney of Glanbia have been awarded honorary degrees by UCD.

The duo were guests of honour at the UCD Agricultural Science Awards, which saw 264 undergraduate and postgraduate students conferred with agricultural science degrees. With 2011 CAO entry for UCD agriculture courses rising to 430 points, students are well aware of agri-food’s growing appeal.

Professor Maurice Boland, principal of the UCD College of Agricult-ure, Food Science and Veterinary Medicine, said: “Dan Browne and John Moloney have made huge contributions to Irish and global agribusiness. As graduates in Agricultural Science they have shown exemplary vision, entre-preneurship and led significant advancements in the sector, while acting as excellent ambassadors for the agri-science programme.”
