Global security firm to expand Cork operations following positive results

GLOBAL security firm, Trend Micro is planning an expansion at its Cork operations following a positive performance of the business.

The company’s Europe, Middle East and African headquarters are based in Cork and the majority of revenue from these regions flows through the Irish operation.

Building work on an extension to offices may begin in 2012 with the company planning to open an executive briefing centre in Cork.

Senior vice-president at Trend Micro, Anthony O’Mara, said: “We are very happy with the very positive results despite the global downturn. It is evident that our new strategic and innovative security products are making inroads and contributing to the strong growth at Trend Micro.

“The Cork operation continues to significantly contribute to the strong growth, having grown the business in Europe, Middle East and Africa on the top line and particularly on bottom-line profitability.”

Mr O’Mara said that with the opening of the briefing centre at the offices in Bishopstown, the operation is more involved with direct sales and client engagement.

“Key corporate clients and prospects from all over Europe now come to Cork, to understand the Trend Micro proposition and experience firsthand our level of care, innovation and excellence in the area of security.

“The executive briefing centre in Cork is of vital importance to our enterprise sales strategy but we are delighted that it also impacts very positively on Cork’s economy overall, with a large number of international executives spending time in Cork,” he said.
