Roads projects ‘crucial’ for region

Salthill: The completion of the M17/M18 Gort to Claremorris section of the Atlantic Road Corridor and the construction of the N6 Galway City Outer Bypass are critical elements to renewing the area, according to a major report by the Engineers Ireland West Region.

The details of the report were outlined on the second day of the Engineers Ireland Annual Conference 2011 at the Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill.

The report also called for at least one technology research centre to be headquartered in the west to link existing strengths in biotech with international partners to commercialise outputs.
