Farmers to receive €100m grant aid

Dublin: Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Brendan Smith, yesterday confirmed payment of a further €100m to farmers by way of early payment of the final instalment of 20% of the grant aid due to farmers under the Farm Waste Management Scheme.

He said remaining farmers would receive the final instalment of grant aid, due under the scheme, in early 2011. Some 14,758 payments to farmers had been made possible under the scheme by the re-allocation of the savings concerned.
