Couple facing court battle over €5m bank loan on husband’s birthday

ACC Bank is pursuing a couple for summary judgment orders for almost €5 million over unpaid loans advanced to develop office accommodation in Wexford.

Representing himself at the Commercial Court yesterday, Stephen Carr said he acknowledged the monies were owed and he was not trying to avoid responsibility.

However, he argued, it would be in the bank’s interest to allow him continue his efforts, including to lease or sell the premises, with a view to reducing the debt. He could not see what the urgency was in ACC seeking summary judgment now.
