Digicel customers exceed 11m after subscriptions up 10% in 14 months

DIGICEL – the international mobile communications operator owned by Denis O’Brien – has announced a 10% rise in its subscriber base over the past 14 months, bringing its customer numbers past 11 million.

That latest update means that the telecommunications specialist has added more than 200,000 customers since publishing its annual results just two months ago.

The company has also said that its market share has increased in each of its core markets around the Caribbean and Central America. Mr O’Brien, who acts as the company’s executive chairman, launched Digicel nearly 10 years ago, initially basing it out of Jamaica where the group continues to be headquartered and where it controls 70% of the market.
