Security company to create 100 jobs

SOME 100 jobs will be created between now and March at newly rebranded Synergy Security Solutions, with further jobs and British expansion plans to follow.

Created by the phased merger over two years of Rapier Security Group and Express Security Group, Synergy is an indigenous company with 800 staff in Dublin, Cork, Navan, Limerick and Waterford.

Synergy plans to create a further 100 jobs through incremental growth and acquisitions before the end of 2010. The company also has ambitions to expand into Britain and further afield.

Synergy managing director John Lawlor said: “Over the past two years we have combined the skills, expertise, national reach and customer base of two of Ireland’s leading security companies and we are uniquely positioned to further grow our share of the market in the year ahead.

“Our focus on investment also presents opportunities for us to expand into the UK and beyond.

“We see significant potential for future growth in the services sector in the years ahead as customers look for value for money and quality focused partners in security.”

Prior to their merger, Rapier and Express had common shareholders and directors. Collectively, they owned and managed separate entities which have been consolidated into a single company and brand.

Mr Lawlor was formerly MD of Rapier Security. Synergy’s new operations director, Ken O’Reilly, was formerly MD of Express Security Group.

Taoiseach Brian Cowen said: “This success story highlights the importance of innovation and smart thinking to the economy. Synergy Security’s approach is one that can be replicated by many other indigenous services companies.”

Synergy’s clients include Google, Eircom, VHI, Woodie’s, ESB, WIT, HMV, Bank of Ireland and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
