Information days for workers hit by Dell closure
Various services in training, upskilling and entrepreneurial supports as well as further and higher education will be outlined.
Local state agencies and third-level colleges have come together to provide a range of courses specifically devised for the redundant workers. As well as those employed directly by Dell, others who were employed by companies such as Banta Global Turnkey, IEC/Flextronics, Sercom, Sodexo, Cube, RPS Engineering, Rehab Logistics and Novo Strat will be included in the scheme.
Fianna Fáil TD Niall Collins said: “It is good to see that real progress is being made and the workers will now see some practical action taking place. These meetings will be the first step towards helping these workers receive the training and upskilling they need to secure fresh employment opportunities.
“Fás will be writing to the workers shortly inviting them to these information meetings and I hope there will be a large attendance. The workers have had a very difficult 12 months and I hope these meetings will mark the start of a more positive future for them.”
