DCC seeks to grow presence in Britain
The multi-disciplined support services group announced yesterday that it has successfully reorganised its British-based environmental-focused operations under one new holding company, DCC Environmental Britain.
The new entity will basically oversee the William Tracey Group and Wastecyle – the two recycling firms in which DCC has interests in Britain.
DCC has paid Michael Tracey – the managing director of the William Tracey Group – £8.45m (€9.7m) to dilute part of his ownership. Mr Tracey will now head up DCC Environmental Britain and will own 30% of the new combined business, with the DCC group owning the other 70%.
The William Tracey Group is the leading recycling company in Scotland while Wastecycle is a leading player in the English market, based near Nottingham.
DCC group chief executive, Tommy Breen said that the re-modelling of the British environmental business means the group is well-placed “to capitalise on the favourable market dynamic in Britain, where an increasing proportion of waste is being recycled and diverted away from landfill”.
