Harcourt cuts FF donations by 80%

POLITICAL donations to Fianna Fáil from one of the country’s biggest property developers were down 80% last year as its pre-tax losses almost doubled to €22 million.

Harcourt Developments Limited, which is owned by Donegal businessman Pat Doherty, donated €2,000 to Fianna Fáil last year, down from the €10,250 declared by the company in 2007.

Two years ago the company also donated €5,000 to the Progressive Democrats, €4,000 to Fine Gael and €5,992 to the Social Democratic Labour Party. Latest accounts filed by the firm show none of these parties received donations last year.
