Kilsaran Group’s €30m investment in redevelopment a boost for jobs
The investment has gone on redeveloping the group’s 14-acre paving manufacturing and processing plant. It will see 60 jobs retained and another 60 created immediately. In addition, the company is aiming to take onanother 50 staff over the next 12 to 18 months.
The group has been in existence for 45 years and has supplied products to a number of major construction projects including the Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, the M50 motorway, extension work at Dublin Airport and the soon-to-be opened National Convention Centre.
It officially opened the new facility yesterday with the help of Transport Minister Noel Dempsey, at the same time announcing the re-branding of its paving division as Kilsaran Lifestyle.
Kilsaran Group director David McKeown called the investment “an exciting new chapter” for the business.
“We extensively researched other concrete paving manufacturing and display facilities across the globe and feel our facilities surpass anything we’ve seen.
“This new facility will allow us to significantly expand our product range and increase the choice of product finishes, while a new R&D laboratory will ensure that the product range continues to grow and maintain its leading position in the Irish market,” he said.
The new facility, according to Mr Dempsey, “embodies the flexibility, vision, innovation and determination required by business at this critical time in our economic cycle.
“The unveiling of this impressive facility is a proud day for everyone involved in bringing the development to fruition and represents a major boost for the local economy and further afield,” he added.
Despite the downturn in the construction sector, Kilsaran undertook the investment in the belief that although most people may not be moving house, they are likely to invest in improving and renovating their gardens.
