Vodafone’s BT move approved

THE Competition Authority said yesterday it has approved Vodafone Ireland’s proposed purchase of the consumer and small business broadband operation of BT Ireland.

Vodafone’s BT move approved

“This partnership is good news for consumers and small businesses in Ireland as it creates greater competition and choice in the fixed line market,” said Vodafone Ireland chief executive, Charles Butterworth, regarding the deal, which was initially announced last month.

“This partnership will enable Vodafone to launch an exciting roadmap of fixed products and services that are strongly differentiated from those available in the market today, giving our customers better value and more choice,” he added.

BT and Vodafone will work with customers over the coming months to undertake a migration of services.
