ICSMA demands urgent action to avoid collapse in beef production

THE Irish beef sector is on the edge, the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association (ICMSA) warned yesterday.

It called on meat processors and the Government to immediately introduce measures that will allow beef farmers to make a margin from production this year and in the future.

Otherwise, it said, there will be a continuing downward spiral of beef prices, leading to a total collapse in production.
