Good start to year for ISEQ index

The ISEQ index closed up 76.23 points at 2,419.50 to start the year on a positive note.

The financials had a mixed day. AIB shed 2c to €1.71, Bank of Ireland added 5c to 88c, Anglo Irish Bank gained 3c to 20c, while Irish Life & Permanent gained 6c to €1.63.

In construction CRH jumped 43c to 18.28, Kingspan increased 10c to €3.22 and Grafton Group fell 3c to €2.28.

Ryanair moved up 14c to 3.11, Elan progressed 37c to €4.53, Kerry Group were 10c stronger at 13.20, Glanbia lost 7c to €2.07, Paddy Power made a slight gain of 2c to €13.45, while C&C was unchanged at €2.07.
