Talks move in newspaper row

THE Western People and Unite trade union have both agreed to withdraw all notices relating to a current industrial relations dispute.

Members of the Unite trade union working at the Western People had voted in favour of strike action following the refusal by two staff members of new roles offered to them in the publication’s offices in Castlebar and Claremorris.

This latest joint initiative is to allow talks to take place in the coming weeks under the auspices of the Labour Relations Commission.
