Telecom firms to invest €724m

THE telecoms industry will invest €724m a year in infrastructure by 2011.

Speaking at IBEC’s Telecommunications and Internet Federation (TIF) annual conference in Dublin Castle yesterday, TIF director, Tommy McCabe said the investment will be spread across all platforms, including fixed, mobile, wireless, fixed wireless, satellite and cable infrastructure.

Mr McCabe said this investment by an industry which contributes €4.67 billion annually to the Irish economy will greatly improve the services that are on offer to Irish consumers.
