Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte today launched the Report of the Next Generation Broadband Taskforce.

SCHOOLS are to get the classroom laptop computers and digital projects promised by the Government under a €22 million investment in the new year.

IRELAND still faces an uphill challenge if it is to achieve a quality nationwide broadband internet network in the short-to-medium term, an industry conference was told yesterday.

THE telecoms industry will invest €724m a year in infrastructure by 2011.

THEY may not be able to afford running water or sufficient classrooms but at least Irish schools can keep up to date with developments on their plight — thanks to an initiative to equip them with cheap and speedy internet access.
