A MINORITY of rogue operators who might be seeking to make a “quick buck” out of organic food markets were warned yesterday that they will not get away with it.

Horticulture and Food Minister Trevor Sargent told the Bord Bia organic food conference in Waterford that he is fully committed to ensuring that consumers can have full confidence in the organic food they buy.

For that reason, he said, his department has assigned additional resources to the Organic Unit which is inspecting retail outlets including supermarkets, shops and farmers’ markets.
