Firms to announce huge expansion

Better news on the jobs front is expected as two companies are reportedly gearing up to announce significant expansions in the Dublin area.

Covidien — formerly Tyco Healthcare — is closing 17 of its operations across Europe in order to consolidate them in one European headquarters in Cherrywood in south Dublin; while Volkswagen is to employ 125 people at its planned new Dublin showroom, due to open in Liffey Valley later this year.
