He said farmers are achieving significant cost savings through collective purchasing. Product availability is not an issue as suppliers scramble to secure orders.
“It is vital that farmers control their costs and shop around before purchasing their inputs,” he said.
Mr McDonnell said rising input costs, which is the case with fertiliser, seed and fuel, coupled with downward pressure on new crop cereal prices, will see significant erosion in income for growers this season.
