THIS year’s Irish Rural Link conference at the Park Hotel, Charleville (May 15-16), will focus on the challenges, opportunities and skills required by rural communities to work towards their own future sustainability.

Seamus Boland, chief executive, said social, economic and environmental sustainability is the goal of every rural community. Government policy documents from the White Paper onwards envisage sustainable rural communities.

Mr Boland said anyone with interest in rural community development should visit Ballyhoura Country to witness the scale of what can be achieved through rural community development.
