Newspaper titles forced to close

THE Voice Newspaper Group has closed half of its titles, due to economic conditions and rising competition from overseas titles.

In a statement yesterday, management said “due to a downturn in the economy and competition from British newspaper groups, The Monaghan Voice and The Cavan Voice, The Tipperary Voice and the Kildare Voice newspapers have ceased to operate this week”.The group is, however, keeping its remaining four titles — the Kilkenny Voice, the Laois Voice, the Galway Voice and the Tallaght Voice — operating.
