Enterprise Ireland opens new office

ENTERPRISE MINISTER Minister Micheál Martin, announced the opening of Enterprise Ireland’s second Latin American office in Mexico City today.

Recognising the growing importance of this region to Irish trade, Mr Martin added he intends to lead “a major Enterprise Ireland mission to Mexico and Brazil” this year.

Last year Enterprise Ireland opened its first Latin American office in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

“Increasing exports in both existing and emerging markets is crucial in sustaining economic growth and wealth creation in Ireland,” said Mr Martin.

Sectors such as IT, telecoms, life sciences and education will be represented on the trade mission.

Sales by Enterprise Ireland client companies to Mexico grew by 6% in 2006 to €62.6 million.
