WDC fund invested €6.2m in 2007

THE Western Development Commission’s investment arm, the WDC Investment Fund invested €6.2 million in 17 projects last year.

The fund has made investments totalling €27million with more than 75% of the monies having gone to SMEs and the balance invested into community projects.

Gillian Buckley, WDC chief executive, said the size of the WDC IFs continuing investments is evidence of the stock of commercially viable projects in the west: “There is a high demand for a fund of our kind that is the only source of venture funds specifically available for enterprises in the western region.”
