‘Opportunity’ for dairy producers

INCREASED demand for dairy products worldwide represents significant opportunities for the Irish dairy sector, according to Enterprise Ireland, sponsor of the functional foods forum at the World Dairy Summit in Dublin.

EI executive director Mike Feeney said demand for dairy is happening in parallel to an increased demand for functional foods, which provide nutritional solutions or extra health benefits.

“R&D will enable Irish dairy companies to develop new dairy-based ingredients to exploit these market opportunities,” he said.
