Cork-based online travel company sets its sights on new horizons

The Cork-based online travel company has made the move from country to town, moving to new offices in Skibbereen from its farm base in Castletownshend, Co Cork.

The move marks the firm’s significant expansion over the past few years.

MyguideTravel will employ up to 40 people at the new Skibbereen offices.

Chief executive Conor Buckley said: “This move really represents the expansion of the company. In the last two years we have grown considerably through our MyguideIreland, MyguideBritain and MyguideScotland companies, while we’re just about to launch MyguideNewEngland.

“We’ve recognised our potential in this market and are excited about our future prospects.”

MyguideIreland was established in Ireland nine years ago and was formerly known as 1 2 Travel. It has operated in Britain since 2004. Recently a Boston travel firm invested €3 million to merge with the company.

Crystal Travel and Tours acquired a stake in MyguideIreland through the investment and both companies will operate under the holding company MyguideTravel.

The new company will provide package holidays in Ireland and Britain and will operate as MyguideIreland for holidays to Ireland and MyguideBritain for vacations to Britain.
